10 At-Home Date Ideas

Don’t want to leave the house, but want to do something fun with your spouse? Here are 10 creative ideas for a fun night at home!

1. Camp-Out in the Living Room

This is such a fun date night! I surprised my husband one night with this unique date idea. He came home from work and I had a full-blown camp-out set up in our living room. I had the tent set up, camp chairs out, s’mores ready to be made at the stove, blankets and pillows in the tent, and even some Christmas lights hung inside of the tent. We didn’t sleep in the tent that night, but you totally could if you wanted to! If you have a backyard and it’s summer time, this would be a fun backyard camp-out too! We just grabbed a laptop and watched our favorite shows together inside the tent and enjoyed making s’mores over the stove!

2. Spa Night

My hubby and I do this date night quite often! We love turning on some relaxing music on Spotify and usually get some cheap face masks, bath bombs, and massage lotion. We spoil each other by massaging each other while we wait for the face masks to dry. If you want to go into even more detail, buy some foot scrubs, candles, cucumbers for your eyes, and end the night with a warm shower or bath! Yummy treats are a good bonus too! (Sparkling Ciders/Sodas and chocolate covered strawberries are my favorites to add to spa night!)

3. At-Home Dance

Pretend like you are going out for a dance! Create a playlist with some of your favorite slow songs, and fast songs if you want those too. Get dressed up cute, and dim the lights! Dance in the kitchen and don’t forget to include some of your favorite drinks and treats!

4. Bake Together

This might be a more typical date night, but it is one of my favorites! Who doesn’t want to enjoy a yummy dessert with their spouse anyway!? When we do this as a date, we try not to do something we’ve done before, or something that is super easy. Last time we did this date, we tried making baklava, and that was quite the success! Make a fun international dessert, or a homemade version of a name-brand candy bar!

5. Learn to Cook a New Meal

Find something tricky to make and learn how to cook a unique meal together! Look up You Tube videos with the recipes you want to make and set a laptop on the counter while you cook together! It is entertaining, and you get to enjoy a delicious meal together afterwards (hopefully!!).

6. Story Time

Some of the cutest dates I’ve heard of, are when couples go to the bookstore and read children’s books together. This is easily something you can do at home as well! If you don’t have children’s books lying around, go to your local thrift shop and pick out a few fun books. Cuddle up with some blankets and take turns reading books to each other. This is something simple, but results in many giggles and fun memories made!

7. Paper Airplane Contest

If your spouse is anything like mine, he LOVES making paper airplanes. I am the worst at making paper airplanes actually fly, so we looked up videos on how to make the best paper airplanes. This actually resulted in some pretty cool designs and we took them outside to fly them! It was fun to see who’s plane would fly farther, smoother, or higher. If you want to take it a step up, have a contest to see who can decorate their plane the most creative too!

8. Painting Night

Bob Ross is a great inspiration for your painting date night, but if you aren’t a fan of Bob Ross, look up other videos for some fun painting ideas! You could do a traditional canvas painting, water color, or even something as different as painting pottery.

9. Game Night

There are a lot of fun two player games out there, so grab one and have a simple game night together! You can opt for a shorter game for a quicker date night, or a longer game for an extensive game night. Prepare some treats, and if you’re feeling it, invite another couple or two over for a double or triple date game night!

10. Movie and Popcorn

This might be the most typical date of them all, but there are ways to make it more fun that the typical movie night at home. Make some movie theater popcorn (just flavor your microwave popcorn to stay simple), watch a movie that you’ve never seen before (or one you haven’t seen in a long time), and pull the couch right up in front of the television! These simple things just make a movie night at home a little more creative and different, so hopefully it feels more like a date rather than just a “chill-out-at-home” kind of night!

Hopefully you can find a fun date idea out of one of these 10 ideas! If you have any other ideas for at-home dates, please share them in the comments!
